    AEO vs SEO

SEO aims to rank a URL in a list of results. AEO aims to get the brand quoted as the answer, where there may be no list and no click. Antony Deroshan does not drop technical SEO to focus on AI.

    Two questions, one crawl

SEO asks: will this URL appear in a list, and will someone click it. AEO asks: will a system treat a block of text as the answer. You can win the first and lose the second. You cannot win the second if the page cannot be crawled, rendered, or trusted as a source.

AEO sits on SEO: crawlable pages, titles that match the query, internal links that hold the site together, facts that agree everywhere they appear. AI visibility is the named-mention test on top of that. If you drop technical SEO to focus on AI, you usually lose both layers. Nothing that cannot be crawled gets quoted.

    What changes in the writing

SEO writing can bury the fact under a story. AEO writing puts the extractable unit first: a checkable sentence, a stable entity, an FAQ that answers in the first two lines. Entity authority is why the name cannot change between the H1, the schema, and LinkedIn.

    Reporting

A rank dashboard is an SEO report. An AEO report names engines, queries, whether the brand was quoted or mentioned, and which URL was credited. Mixing them without saying so is how a losing AEO program looks busy.

    Questions

Is AEO a replacement for SEO?

No. Pages that cannot be crawled will not be quoted.

Can a page rank and still never get quoted?

Yes. Ranking a URL and being treated as the answer are different outcomes.
